    Refining and petrochemicals

    Refining and petrochemicals.

We deliver laboratory instruments for halogen, sulphur, nitrogen, and mercury analysis as well as sample preparation in a laboratory environment for refineries and petrochemical plants across the Nordic region. Commissioning, calibration, and service by our own engineers are included.

Laboratory measurement systems for quality control and emissions reporting.

We install and configure laboratory instruments for the QC laboratories of refineries and petrochemical plants: analysis of halogens, sulphur, nitrogen, and mercury, sample preparation for subsequent elemental analysis, thermal processes, and reference materials and standards.

    Mercury analysis in the laboratory

NIC instruments for the determination of mercury in raw materials, products and water samples in the laboratory. Low detection levels and traceable calibration provide the basis for emissions reporting and internal quality monitoring.

Halogen, sulphur and nitrogen analysis in the laboratory

Nittoseiko instruments for the determination of chlorine, fluorine, bromine, sulphur and nitrogen in fuels, naphtha and petrochemical products, including per ASTM D5453 (sulphur) and ASTM D5808 (chlorine). Sub-ppm levels for QC and certification.

Sample preparation in a laboratory environment

Microwave digestion from Preekem for reproducible sample preparation in the laboratory prior to elemental and Hg analysis. Traceable workflow for digestion of raw materials, products and catalysts, with comparable results over time.

    Reference materials and standards

Analytichem supplies certified reference materials and calibration standards for petrochemical matrices, for traceable calibration of ICP, AAS and dedicated analysers in the QC laboratory.

    Drying, incubation and climate

Memmert drying ovens, vacuum ovens and climate chambers for sample conditioning, dry matter determination and ageing tests of petrochemical products and packaging materials.

    High temperatures and ashing

Nabertherm muffle and chamber furnaces for ashing, loss on ignition and thermal treatment of catalysts, coke/soot determination and other routine methods in the refinery QC laboratory.

    Standards and reference methods.

Measurements for emissions reporting and process quality must be traceable to established standards. For mercury analysis and process gas measurement, we work with reference methods that your HSE function, your accredited laboratories, and regulatory authorities already recognize.

    • ISO 17025 for traceability in calibration, documentation and reporting.
    • EN 1483 for mercury analysis in water and wastewater.
    • EN 14884 for automated measuring systems for mercury in air emissions.
    • BAT conclusions for refineries according to the EU Industrial Emissions Directive for emission reporting.

Initial calibration is performed against certified reference materials. Re-calibration is scheduled according to the agreed service plan plus the requirements of your reporting cycle.
